The second matchday ended on Sunday. The last matches of the group stage are already underway, but we look back on the Bayern players’ performances in the second match of the World Cup in Russia. Thiago and Tolisso were not used this time. But the Germans were a little more convincing. In addition, James and […]

World Cup-Blog: tactics, dreams, Toni Kroos

Germany has no leaders. Every year this discussion rears its head. We find: Germany has rarely had so many leaders. It was early in the meeting with Sweden. Germany stood already with their backs to the wall – like Italy 2010, like Spain 2014. With the knowledge of the past it would have been no […]

3 Things We Noticed: FC Bayern – TSG 1899 Hoffenheim 5-2 (2-2)

These are strange weeks. The league is almost decided. Really serious challenges feel like weeks away. If one does not pay attention properly, such situations often lead to a certain carelessness, from which even bigger problems can arise. On Saturday afternoon, FC Bayern looked after them. But only after a wake-up call. Starting formations FC […]

Rising Star of the Year 2017: Joshua Kimmich

The award ceremony of the Miasanrot awards for the past calendar year 2017 continues. Player of the year 2017: Mats Hummels

It is without question the best time of the year. Christmas, family, bitter cold weather, cuddled in a warm blanket and equipped with hot drinks from inside, and in parts of the country there is even snow. Okay, maybe that’s not for everyone, but for those who can’t handle all of this, we still have […]

But before they dug into those two topics, Susie and Maurice chat about how they came by their Bayern fandoms, the possibility of an alternate World Cup tournament and Robert Lewandowski’s new hair don’t.

Finally getting into the good stuff, the pair discuss the highly entertaining Dortmund – Bayern match and why it wasn’t the tactical masterclass we’re used to seeing from these two sides when they match up.

The 1:3 score would end up being flattering for an FCB side that managed to be clinical when it counted, and the excellent performances of Kimmich, Ulreich, Coman, Alaba, Suele and Robben get mentioned as well as a superior match from Pulisic.

Moving on to the Nationalelf, Maurice introduces the 58 men that might have a shot at traveling to Russia next summer as he and Susie try to pare down that list to a workable 26-man practice squad and a final 23-man roster (all the while keeping in mind that Jogi Loew is going to do exactly what Jogi Loew does).
They close out the episode briefly discussing the World Cup pots and ideal and not-so-ideal draws that Germany might face. We are happy to be getting back to club football, though, and will be back with you after the Augsburg match. Thank you, as always, for listening! Mia san mia.
