Last Week In Bayern News
Now if you were a halfwit too; you would be telling everyone that Bayern would have a shot at the Treble come next autumn, only to be met by chants of angry boos (and a few beer mugs headed straight for you prolly).
Keep reading Marty, and you might just learn the art of breaking good news to people stuck in the past: one day at a time, that is. Seatbelts on!
Sunday
Let us have the privilege of breaking the bad news, for the folks in denial out there. As you are reading this article, this trophy has already been to the Bavarian cabinet with FC Bayern Munich’s name inscribed all over it. Six times, in fact. Hansi Flick’s men had the first half under total control. What the ten outfield players let in through the gaps, Manuel Neuer brought the same under control.
What transpired thereafter, was inevitable. No Parisian had the energy to keep up with Bavarians till the 90th minute, Coman finally finished a goal, Thiago ran circles around Paris’ midfield all night long and Lucas Hernandez seems to have played a role as well. Apart from Boateng pulling a string, Alvaro Odriozola pulling a quadruple and Kingsley Coman being the King of Lisbon tonight, nothing surprised Flick and the merry 11 Bavarians as they steamrolled all the way to their second continental treble in seven long years.
We can rummage around the film and talk about the match all week long (which we will) but for a summative analysis of what transpired on this fateful night in Lisbon, head over here. Mission Lis6on is complete, finally.
CHAMPIOOOONEEEEE….!!!
Elsewhere in other news, in FC Bayern II’s first friendly for the season, Jann Fiete Arp banged in a hat trick to mark the start of a new season at Bavaria. And to think, he just came back from an injury too! Here’s hoping the MagikArp evolves to be a first team quality forward.
All in all, a win win situation.
Monday
If Hansi Flick demands this, then so be it!
In all seriousness though, nobody savored this as much as Robert Lewandowski on Sunday night. The Champions League Trophy had eluded him since 2013 when he was part of a Dortmund squad that lost to a Heynckes led Bayern side. Since then, even after he came and started a new chapter at Bavaria: European glory was all that was missing in a cabinet of Torjägers and Pokals. To achieve one’s long desired result, on a strange night in Lisbon, all the while when the world is in shambles: that must be what true happiness looks like. Congratulations, Robert Lewandowski. You are the greatest striker in the world, and no one can take that from you.
Alright people, we finally know what annoyed Hansi Flick into securing the treble. It was this news all along, from last November. Chap must have taken it personally; not like we are complaining!
FC Bayern will face Sevilla FC at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest on Thursday 24 September, for a chance at the famed sextuple. Rest well, jungs as Basti would have said.
Tuesday
Many key members of the Bayern family were set to depart at the end of this campaign, which fills us with such great sadness. One of them is the little magician, who did not have a smooth sailing at Bavaria in any form of the phrase. Unlike a certain James though, he fought for his place day in day out and we hope Philippe Coutinho will carry this attitude from Bavaria to wherever he wants to go next. Danke, little magician.
Elsewhere in other news, the party still lives into the night in Bavaria. Ripley’s believe it or not fact, page 2020: the cup is finally home. Here, one more fact for the day:
As reported by Kicker, following Coutinho’s departure Mickaël Cuisance will be Thomas Müller’s backup in attacking midfield. Adrian Fein will have his chance to prove himself in defensive midfield with Jamal Musiala and Bright Arrey-Mbi the youngsters Hansi Flick hopes to integrate into the 11. As we have reported already, Tolisso is the one who is set to be Thiago’s replacement in midfield once the former leaves Bavaria. Furthermore, Sane and Süle have been called up for Die Mannschaft, come early September. No vacation week for them, that is. Last but not the least, Holger Seitz has been announced as coach of the FC Bayern Munich U23 team for one year, succeeding Sebastian Hoeneß. Before being appointed deputy sporting director for the FC Bayern Campus, Seitz has had the experience of coaching the side into the third tier and therefore, serves as an excellent substitute who knows the system in and out.
Busy day as usual for the front office, eh?
Wednesday
Let’s start with the bad news first. Jerome Boateng sustained a torn hamstring in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain. After all that hard work he has put forth throughout the 2019/20 campaign, he deserves this long break from action. Come back stronger, Jerome. Now for the razzmatazz.
After our success in the Champions League, FC Bayern are now officially on the top of the UEFA club coefficient rankings (calculated for a five year period). We are now on 136,000 points, moving past Real Madrid (134,000). The German record champions have thus ended the Spaniard’s six-year reign at the top. Don’t believe us? Here.
Our friends at Bavarian Football works have three more reasons why Lionel Messi should join Bayern Munich, in case you think otherwise.
Really hope this experienced and calm man will make us retain the UCL next season again. Here’s hoping Flicki Flacka steamrolls Europe one more time.
Thursday
Really confused between getting this jersey with the 6 CWC badge and waiting a year and getting one with the badge that reads 7. Please help me make a choice in the comment section. :(
Tidbit for Thursday: Kingsley Coman was the one who opened the scoreline for Bayern’s 2019/20 CL campaign with a header in the 34th minute against Red Star Belgrade. Months later, Coman struck again with a header in the 59th minute against Paris SG to bring the campaign to a close. Coincidence? We think not!
In other news, FC Bayern’s DFB Cup first round meeting with 1. FC Düren has been postponed, as the DFB has announced already on Thursday afternoon. The reasoning?
Imagine the best wingers in the world right now. You must be thinking of Gnabry and Coman. Now add a motivated Leroy Sane to the mix. Now add the best left back in the world to top it off. But guess what, he is a natural winger too.
Bombing the wings, the true ethos of Flicki Flacka.
Friday
The reintegration of fans into international matches has already begun. UEFA hopes to have a maximum of 20,100 spectators with each club being allocated 3000 tickets. I do not follow the logic of giving away so many tickets to UEFA’s partners, but okay.
Looks like the DFB is following suit, as well.
Serge cooking everyone some leviathan Ls.
Vacation week is underway. And renegotiation with Alaba week too, powered by Brazzo.
Saturday
Really can’t understand the reasoning for some wingers mentioned in this team. Not like we are complaining, more than one third of the team represents Die Roten.
Are you watching him, Lahm?
Of course, France’s Ligue 1 season was cut short due to the pandemic. Ligue 1 nonetheless crowned PSG champions, but France Football would presumably argue that Kylian Mbappé unfairly could not complete his domestic season. In their words, “We did not want to put an indelible asterisk on the winner’s list to the effect that the ‘trophy (was) won in exceptional circumstances due to the Covid-19 health crisis…….Protecting the credibility and legitimacy of such an award also means ensuring its irreproachability over time.” Clearly you did not care for one of your own back in 2013, and now this. Really goes far to show the value of this overhyped sphere.
A brilliant and historic campaign has just come to an end for FC Bayern, who won the major treble of the Bundesliga, DFB Cup and Champions League for a second time in the club’s history. The celebrations are barely over but attention is already turning towards the new season. The schedules are set in stone, to start from the 18th of September Bundesliga clash against the Royal Blues, FC Schalke 04.
If you are new to the Bayern family, and hope to know more about the club’s identity: here’s a read that might be just for you.
Or you might be part of the old guard, just awaiting the return of Bundesliga with bated breath. You might be wondering about the meanings of some of the club names, their histories and kill some time in the process. ‘tis the festive season, the season that keeps on giving.
