Episode 11: Injuries, injuries and more injuries

Host Susie and guest Tobi run through a trio of matches that saw Jupp Heynckes finally suffer his first defeat during his fourth tenure at Bayern Munich while getting a few words in about Bayern Munich’s Annual General Meeting and the persistent rumours of Sandro Wagner as Robert Lewandowski’s back-up.

Before the breakdown of Bayern’s breakdown in form, the few interesting points of the Jahreshauptversammlung are discussed; namely: Why are people that don’t live in Germany members of the club? What is and is not liked about the plans for the new stadium seating? How in the world did Munich manage to wrangle 46mil euro for Douglas Costa? (And a little bonus bit at the end.)

Then it’s on to a rather typical win for FCB over Augsburg. Although the pair does mention an uncommon(ly good) performance from Arturo Vidal, it’s fairly cut-and-dry before they move on to the next two games.

A terrible first half at Anderlecht is agreed upon, but the manner of which it happened is not, but both Susie and Tobi could definitely agree on how devastating the losses of Thiago and Arjen Robben to injury played out in the match and the next.

Continuing on the downward slide Bayern’s form has taken of late– painfully obvious at Gladbach–, Susie and Tobi rue the lack of creative options available to the club currently, chat about Niklas Suele’s no-good-very-bad day, and debate a much better second half for the visitors.

Thoughts on Sandro Wagner close out Episode 12, with a little about TV shows and what Susie can’t stand while watching Game of Thrones.

Thank you, as always, for listening. Mia san mia.

FC Bayern sign Serge Gnabry

Surprise in the transfer market. Despite many reports to the contrary, Serge Gnabry will join FC Bayern after all, rather than Hoffenheim, as had been speculated for days in parts of the media. Gnabry (21) comes from Werder Bremen to Bavaria. Gnabry has signed a contract until 2020. However, he could be loaned out straight […]

FC Bayern sign Serge Gnabry

Analysis: KÖLN - FCB 0:3

A focused performance, a convincing victory. Bayern beat Köln thanks to a very strong midfield pairing, confirming the positive trend of recent weeks. On Friday evening, second-placed Leipzig only managed a 2-2 draw in Augsburg. Thus, the tough away fixture in Köln was an important opportunity for Bayern. A win here would extend the league […]

3 Things We Noticed: FC Bayern – VfL Wolfsburg 1-0 (1-0)

It was the duel between the cup winners of 2015 and 2016 in the Allianz Arena. If someone expected a brilliant game of football, he was let down massively. It was one of the less remarkable Bayern wins, but it was still enough to make it to the quarter final of the DFB-cup. Bayern München […]

3 Things We Noticed: FC Bayern – FC Schalke 04 1-1 (1-1)

After two away games in a row, Bayern had their first home game in 2017 against FC Schalke. The game also meant Holger Badstuber’s return to his former home. Bayern had started the new year with two laborious 2-1 victories and could be happy with the points earned, at least; on the pitch, Carlo Ancelotti’s […]

3 Things We Noticed: SC Freiburg – FC Bayern 1-2 (1-1)

Due to an unusual scheduling decision, the last game of the final matchday of the Bundesliga’s first half was played after the winter break, with FC Bayern away at SC Freiburg. Bayern spent the winter break in Qatar once again and played a short tournament in Düsseldorf last weekend, winning it with two victories against […]

3 Things We Noticed: FC Bayern – RB Leipzig 3-0 (3-0)

The last game of the year was a big one: on Wednesday evening, Bayern hosted RB Leipzig. The guests needed a win to go past Bayern and top the league table through the winter break. The newly promoted team had two doubtful players before the game in Keita and Halstenberg, but both got fit in […]

3 Things We Noticed: FC Bayern – Atlético Madrid 1-0 (1-0)

Lewandowski, and it’s a wrap – FC Bayern wins a mostly meaningless game against Atlético Madrid 1-0, entering the round of 16 as second in their group. The match winner was a usual suspect. This season’s Champions League group phase ended with a stunner – on paper, at least. FC Bayern played Atlético Madrid, a […]
